Copyright protects expression of thoughts and ideas in the literary, scientific and artistic domain, in any mode or form of expression. Copyright provides protection to the authors of “original works of authorship” including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic,and certain other intellectual works, both published and unpublished. Copyright protection provides benefits in the form of economic rights, such as by making copies, issuing copies to the public, performing in public, broadcasting and use on-line and to obtain monetary benefits therefrom. However, it may be pertinent to mention here that there is no formal registration process required in order to obtain a copyright protection. Once a work has been created, it is automatically protected by copyright laws.
